All personal information gathered during the provision of psychological services will remain private and confidential EXCEPT when:

1) There is a legal obligation to respond to a court subpoena or report disclosure of abuse/neglect of a child under 16 years to the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) (Psychologists are mandatory reporters);

2) There is a legal/ethical responsibility and duty of care to disclose information because you or another person are at serious risk of harm;

3) You request/approve release of information to another person (e.g., liaison with another health professional).

If you are referred by your G.P with a Mental Health Treatment Plan and claim Medicare rebates I am required to provide brief reports regarding your progress to your referring G.P.

If you are under 18 years old, you have privacy and confidentiality rights but there are some limitations related to my duty of care to you and your parents/guardians. This will be discussed in the initial consultation. I aim to accommodate teenage clients’ needs for privacy and parents’/guardians’ rights/needs to be informed about their teenager’s therapy/progress as harmoniously as possible.
