What is Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)?

Emotion Focused Therapy is a short-term, structured, collaborative, scientifically supported psychotherapy, based on gestalt therapy,  person-centered therapy, systemic therapy and attachment theory. Emotions are  viewed as being central to self and relationship experiences and have important adaptive functions. Therapy focuses on enhancing emotional intelligence, including, emotional awareness, emotional regulation and healthy emotional activation.
